Design Brief
Perform a usability test on the current Website for Dublin Bikes, analyse the results, design an App based on the display insights gathered that could be easily shared with a wider team, perform a second round of usability studies on a medium fidelity prototype.
The Process
Using family and friends to carry out user testing I will produce deliverables that:
a) use a slideshow to put the user test feedback into the context of the screens that could be easily shared.
b) show test results using user journey & infographics
c) compare test results of the original website and rapid prototype
d) Make a decision on what should be done next.
Using three moderated usability studies with new users to Dublin Bikes, I was able to take notes and translate them into a Slideshow, Empathy Map and User Journey Infographic.
The map below shows the number of clicks made by all four users and where they expressed dissatisfaction or had a mental model mismatch during different stages. These pain-points are displayed by the use of dotted lines and icons.
Using the feedback gathered, I developed paper wire-framing concepts.
A prototype was then developed after the third refinement of wire-frames.
Next I conducted a moderated usability study with three different users. The results are shown in the following user journey map.
Some confusion remained at the Membership Card stage. These could be managed by the use of clearer expectations of the benefits and inserting a footer after each pricing item that states what is the most common choice per type of user. With the use of less steps there was an overall increase in satisfaction.
